About Second Spring
Acupuncture & Wellness

Second Spring Acupuncture & Wellness logo

“Helping, fixing and serving represent three different ways of seeing life.

When you help, you see life as weak. When you fix, you see life as broken.

When you serve, you see life as whole.

Fixing and helping may be the work of the ego, and service the work of the soul.”

- RACHEL NAOMI REMEN

The Second Spring Philosophy

Second Spring Acupuncture & Wellness, Inc. strives to provide compassionate wellness services through an empathy-led patient-practitioner approach.

Coreen believes strongly in being of service to patients as they traverse their journey in life. In the short-term, her goal is to have patients leave their treatments feeling better than when they came in. For each patient, a tailored treatment plan is developed to help accomplish patient specific goals. This not only includes acupuncture and other modalities but may include other resources. These resources draw upon the strong ties she has built in the Bay Area to provide, when necessary, as well as the use of complimentary, alternative, and Western medicines to ultimately help guide patients to best results.

About Coreen Gutierrez, M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. OM

Coreen Gutierrez, M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. OM, is an acupuncturist and herbalist whose passion for Chinese medicine began when she experienced its benefits in her own life. Coreen treats patients with a wide range of concerns, but has had extensive training in fertility and women’s health, musculoskeletal pain and sports injuries, as well as herbal prescriptions

Coreen believes in a collaborative approach to treatment and values her patients’ input in the process. She knows how important it is to feel heard when seeking out treatment and considers it an honor to accompany others on the journey of healing and wholeness. In order to find solutions for her patients’ unique needs, Coreen draws from a variety of modalities, including: acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, medicinal topicals and nutritional support. Each patient receives a customized treatment plan which takes into account their full health history and wellness goals. This holistic approach emphasizes both mental-emotional and physical wellness.

Coreen received a four-year Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She spent five years working under her mentor and inspiration to further her knowledge and training in fertility and is working toward becoming an ABROM fellow. Coreen also completed her sports medicine apprenticeship with renowned practitioner Whitfield Reaves. Coreen is licensed both in California and nationally.

In her spare time, Coreen enjoys exploring the city she has called home for more than 25 years. She also spends time reading, traveling, cooking with her husband, and strolling with her dog, Baker.
